A Homebase for your Travel Adventures

Syros an ideal base for your Greek Island adventures with nearby islands Mykonos, Tinos, Andros, and Naxos making it an explorers paradise. Multiple sailings each day to the other Cycladic islands make it easy to get around.

Syros itself is small so is easy to explore. It has an area of 24 square kilometers and is nearly 22.5 km long at its longest point. The coastline features a wide range of secluded beaches and coves that offer safe swimming. The port of Hermoupolis at the Eastern side of the island is the main town and is reached by ferry from Piraeus, the port of Athens.

The northern part of Syros is mountainous and sparsely populated. The southern part is flatter, cultivated, and with the more popular villages and beaches. The climate is mild and temperate dry Mediterranean

What to do on Syros

Syros is a favorite with families who enjoy the beaches and playgrounds. Some areas offer the all night partying similar to nearby Greek islands, but there are plenty of quiet areas to get away from it all. Abela is relaxing and quiet in the evening.

Boating, swimming, diving, hanging out at a waterfront café, evenings at Miaoulis square, cafes along Hermoupolis harbor, hiking, visiting weaving at the monastery in Kini, exploring the old city Ano Syros, tasting local confectionary including halva and Turkish delight. Syros also offers many other activities, from wine, cheese, fishing, unique architecture, opera, theatre, open air movies, churches, visits to textile artisans, and miles of beaches: there is fun here for everyone!
